Rowley Massachusetts History
Rowley, Massachusetts was inhabited by the Agawam people under Sachem Masconomet during the 1600s. In 1639 the town was incorporated along with parts of what is now known as Byfiled, Groveland, Georgetown and Haverhill. First known for its hemp and flax cloth as well as cotton and sawmills. Rowley, Massachusetts is also home to the first stone arched bridge in North America.
